A serving tool
Gunner's pincers were a stout plier-like tool among the small implements of a battery, used in handling and adjusting the fittings of ammunition and in the general work of preparing and serving the guns.
Tools of this kind belonged to the sets carried in the battery for the many small tasks of readying rounds, primers, and fuzes.
